The Ferric Oxide desulfurization works by adsorbing sulfur-containing compounds from waste gases into its pores, effectively purifying the gas. Once the desulfurization reaches saturation, indicating the loss of its desulfurization capability, it may be regenerated through methods such as steam stripping. However, prolonged use of the desulfurization can cause a gradual decline in its activity due to pore obstruction from impurities. Despite this, the active ingredient in the used desulfurization can still be recycled. The Ferric Oxide desulfurization is primarily composed of iron oxide as the key active component, enhanced by various catalysts and carriers.
The working principle:
Desulfuration Reaction: Fe2O3·H2O+3H2S=Fe2S3·H2O+3H2O
Renewal Reaction: 2Fe2S3·H2O+3O2=2Fe2O3·H2O+6S (strong exothermic reaction)
Note: The desulfuration renewal can be cyclic regeneration when there is O2 or O2/H2S≥2.5 in the air, and the reaction formula combines into 2H2S+O2=H2O+2S with the iron oxide as the catalyst.
